The Committee

A film about Florida's little-known investigative committee of the State Legislature from 1956-1964. The committee's aim was to root out homosexual teachers and students from state universities and it was successful in either firing or expelling more than 200 suspected gays and lesbians. The film features two victims and one interrogator who have never before spoken publicly about their experiences. It culminates in a 50-year reunion between victim and interrogator.

Paul Monette: The Brink of Summer's End

Narrated by Linda Hunt, this documentary examines the life of the late author and gay rights activist Paul Monette. His regime strongly represses all freedoms, including sexual ones. Franco Spanish laws are still in force in the country, such as the «public scandal». It is not possible to protest on the street and the only LGTB organization in the country has not been able to legalize itself. In addition, the country’s Parliament is studying hardening the current penal code. To denounce the situation, the group «We are part of the world» has collected the voices of the community in a documentary that pays tribute to Fidel Lemoy, one of its best-known faces, who disappeared last year.

Truth or Dare

An exploration of the relationship between bodies, spaces and touch as a form of longing, Maja Classen’s latest documentary TRUTH OR DARE takes on an essayistic format inspired by the dramaturgy of a sex-positive party in Berlin and the COVID lockdowns of the past two years when the freedom of these spaces seemed possibly lost forever. The film’s protagonists – which include the Chilean queer sex worker Jorge and the genderqueer person Puck – are afforded the space to share their stories of loneliness, desires, sexuality, and identity and reveal how they have found a home and chosen family in Berlin’s queer, sex-positive community.
