Adapted from a popular 'three dime novel' the story revolves around two down-and-out buddies, one streetwise and quick-witted the other naïve and kind-hearted. This oddball duo go through up and downs and eventually get their break in life.

Compulsive gambler Oz lives in a rent-controlled apartment in Brooklyn, with his roommate, Ivy-League dropout Ish. Crippled by an unspoken fear of failure, the serial underachievers whittle the hours away playing video games and discussing plans for a band that has yet to leave the realm of the hypothetical. But after they meet graffiti artist Veronica, who challenges them to take action, Oz and Ish must examine themselves for the first time.

Kuhle Wampe oder: Wem gehört die Welt?

Kuhle Wampe takes place in early-1930s Berlin. The film begins with a montage of newspaper headlines describing steadily-rising unemployment figures. This is followed by scenes of a young man looking for work in the city and the family discussing the unpaid back rent. The young man, brother of the protagonist Anni, removes his wristwatch and throws himself from a window out of despair. Shortly thereafter his family is evicted from their apartment. Now homeless, the family moves into a garden colony of sorts with the name “Kuhle Wampe.”

PLAN 75

In a Japan of the near future, the government program Plan 75 encourages senior citizens to be voluntarily euthanized to remedy a super-aged society. An elderly woman whose means of survival are vanishing, a pragmatic Plan 75 salesman, and a young Filipino laborer face choices of life and death.

When the cash-strapped yuppies fire their teen-aged daughter's lesbian Mexican nanny, Margarita, they set off a chain of events that lead to her deportation.
