The Queen of Versailles

With the epic dimensions of a Shakespearean tragedy, The Queen of Versailles follows billionaires Jackie and David’s rags-to-riches story to uncover the innate virtues and flaws of their American dream. We open on the triumphant construction of the biggest house in America, a sprawling, 90,000-square-foot mansion inspired by Versailles. Since a booming time-share business built on the real-estate bubble is financing it, the economic crisis brings progress to a halt and seals the fate of its owners. We witness the impact of this turn of fortune over the next two years in a riveting film fraught with delusion, denial, and self-effacing humor.

'A Wing and a Prayer' - The Story of Knock Airport

"We're building an airport", Monsignor James Horan tells Jim Fahy of RTÉ News, in 1981. The bold story of a 'simple' country priest, with a dream to build a 7500ft runway for an international airport, on a "foggy, boggy hill" in and around Barnacahoge and Barnalyra, Co. Mayo. A feat few thought possible. It began as a one off news item, and develops into a charming documentary, written by Fahy and directed by Blackman over the years. The changing governments, all get caught up in the chaos, and almost nobody in power wanted it to go ahead. This controversial campaign to put Connacht on the map, faces setback after setback. But none great enough, to stop this "old man in a hurry" from getting his airport for the province, opened to the public by 1986.

American Mirror - Intimations of Immortality

Oscar-winning screen icon Susan Sarandon and Armenian painter Tigran Tsitoghdzyan discuss time and identity, and how the apparently in conflict values of beauty and aging are perceived in our modern society dominated by social media, as he limns her portrait during a timeless sitting session. With this film the director sets in motion his film theory on poetics of cinematic art, by re-creating a set of sense memories of an artist in a non-linear, challenging, yet intriguing story-telling scheme.

Il Diario

A visual story that captures the essence of the Giffoni Film Festival, described by François Truffaut as “the most necessary of festivals.” It is not a simple documentary, but an emotional diary that mixes daily observations with creative narration. It is an intimate and collective look at Giffoni, a place that every summer is transformed into a small cinema town, inhabited by real emotions and personal visions. A tribute to cinema as a tool for growth and to a festival that manages to give a voice to those who, through cinema, seek to better understand themselves and the world.
