The bigger the audiences for Dutch comedian Micha Wertheim’s shows became, the less he had to do to make them laugh. In one early show, he suggested that the audience would be better off without him. So in 2016, he acted upon this suggestion with an experiment that made theater history: he wasn't physically present onstage but somewhere else. The audience wasn't aware of this in advance, though they did get a hint in the form of a pre-recorded "live" radio interview from a remote studio. "I see my audience as my children," Wertheim says in this interview. "You have to educate them, and that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 15 years. At first you have to constantly be there watching them, but there comes a time when you have to trust them to get on with it without you." With some help from a robot, a printer, a stereo and a set of headphones, the members of his audience were able to make their own performance.

Klaas van der Eerden: Wortels

In his hilarious show "Wortels" (Roots), Klaas van der Eerden takes the audience back to his roots. Raised in the 1970s in a small farming village above Amsterdam in a hippie family, Klaas lets loose with his funny stories, characters, and improvisations. "Wortels is brimming with original ideas and a high density of jokes," wrote the AD newspaper. De Volkskrant enjoyed the "tasty stories" and called Wortel "an entertaining and meaningful program." And we haven't even mentioned the highly comical musical highlights with which Klaas constantly surprises his audience. Conclusion: an energetic, full-blooded entertainer who gives 100% every night and gets every audience going wild!

Het gaat goed met Roué Verveer. De Volkskrant vindt hem "verfrissend geëngageerd" en het NRC Handelsblad roemt zijn fantasie: "Hij vuurt grappen ogenschijnlijk uit de losse pols af, alsof hij ze ter plekke verzint." Geen wonder, want Roué maakt al jaren furore bij de Comedytrain met zijn mooie verhalen en scherpe improvisaties en in zijn theatershows buldert de gulle lach door de zaal. Maar als het goed met je gaat, neemt de angst om het weer kwijt te raken toe. En dat is precies het verhaal achter 'Voorwaardelijk Vrij'. Verveer prikkelt, stemt tot nadenken, en doet dat met heel veel humor. Voorwaardelijk Vrij is opgenomen in De Meervaart in Amsterdam.
