The Drag Net
Captain Timothy 'Two Gun' Nolan is appointed head of the New York detective force, and as his first act, rounds up every criminal in town. Gang boss 'Dapper' Frank Trent stands bail for all of them as independent minor gang-leader. Setting out to get Trent, Nolan moves in on his hideout, assisted by his friend 'Shakespeare.' Trent kills Shakespeare, but makes Nolan believe it is his shot that has done so. Nolan resigns his commission and becomes a drunk. Found unconscious by Trent, he is offered as the pièce de résistance at a gangland banquet which 'The Magpie' attends. A lost film.

At a party for Cornelia's brother Nancy meets Bob Whittaker and falls hard for him. They spend a weekend together at the beach, where their feelings for each other intensify, but Bob feels unworthy of her and contrives to be seen in an affectionate pose with another girl, Heloise, which demolishes Nancy's illusions. Heartbroken Nancy enlists as an ambulance driver at the outbreak of war eventually reuniting with Bob on the battlefields of France. They marry before his regiment leaves for the front.

Whipsawed
On the steamer going over to London the "Kid" falls in love with a senator's daughter and his manager is too sick to keep him in any training. After a week or two of training the "Kid" enters the ring only to find that his rival is one of his sparring partners. Knowing all the "Kid's" punches the opponent scores many points during the combat but suffers a punch in the jaw which loosens a tooth. The "Kid" waits for the moment when the terrible fighter must turn his head to spit out the tooth before he gives him the final knock-out punch.
